“ I recently rediscovered Centro, and I'm so glad I did! Chef Travis is the new owner, and his cooking has taken this place to a whole new level. I've been to two of their specialty dinners--the tequila pairing and New Year's--and everything was absolutely delicious. I've also been back for their regular menu, and let me tell you, the sticky ribs are my ultimate favorite. Their cocktail menu is top-notch! A good Old Fashioned is hard to find in town, but Centro nails it every time. “ Recently we have rediscovered Centro and are really enjoying it. We came here quite a bit like 3 or 4 years ago and have recently came back for some food and drink pairing events and now for dinner. Chef Travis is now the recent owner of Centro has really kept up what we initially enjoyed about Centro and then added even more great food and cocktails that show off his talent as a chef. During this visit we started off with some Coffee Old Fashioned, which were simple yet amazing, and I am a sucker for any place that makes cocktails with large clear ice cubes . For food we ordered the sticky ribs, roasted Brussel sprouts, pan seared corvina and lemon picatta meatball. Every dish was perfectly executed and really delicious. From both events and this dinner this place keeps surprising me with how well they execute their veggie dishes, in both how they are prepared and how flavorful they are. Some veggie dishes definitely go toe-to-toe with their many delicious meat ones. Definitely happy to make our way back to Centro recently and plan to keep it a regular part of our restaurants when we feel like having a delicious and bit more elevated meal. ”

“ As someone who's tried quite a few restaurants in Reno, it sure is hard to TAPAS this place! Nestled in the heart of Midtown Reno, Centro offers an extensive menu of innovative tapas dishes (which are actually quite decently sized) and artisan-crafted cocktails. I've tried quite a few dishes, and my favorites would be their grilled octopus, hamachi crudo, NY steak and short ribs. Despite always being busy whenever I visit, service is quite attentive and well-paced. Centro is definitely a great spot to visit for an intimate date or a large group dinner with friends/family, and I highly recommend checking them out for a well-priced elevated meal if you're in the Reno area! ”

“ Chef Travis is the new owner of this restaurant and he is doing incredible things to the food and service that everyone needs to experience for themselves! This review is long overdue. Last August I had the pleasure of introducing a couple of visiting colleagues to the magic of this restaurant. It was the first time that I visited since ownership changed, and I was excited for my colleagues to meet Travis and experience this food which left us all saying wow. I love this restaurant because it's built around the idea of sharing. That night we ordered the Crudo, chicken polpette, ravioli, and quite a few other dishes, all of which totally hit the spot. Last week a friend was visiting from Las Vegas and he found Centro on yelp and asked if I wanted to join him for dinner. The word yes could not come out of my mouth faster, and we both sat down for an extended eating session at the bar, watching the chefs carefully create each dish. We repeated the Crudo and the chicken meatball, but this time I wasn't too tired to really take in all of the flavors and complexity of these dishes. Everything on these plates individually was delicious but when you combine the flavors together, you really take it to the next level. The star of the show had to be the seared Corvina in a Thai style green curry sauce. The fish was impeccably cooked with the crispy skin and the most delicate moist flaky interior. It was served on top of a crispy sticky rice cake, which was infused with coconut and added a touch of sweetness and crunch to the dish. I probably could've eaten two poisons of this without blinking so please have this on your radar when you go. Another shocker was the house pickle plate. Simple and appearance, mildly complex and flavors, but the perfect foil to all of the rich dishes we had throughout the meal. I typically hate beats, but really enjoyed the pickled ones here because they had a bit of Asian spice to them. We also tried a grilled short rib, the incredibly tender roasted carrots, and finished off with the five spice cake, which was a total home-run with the Asian citrus sauce. It seems Travis and his team evolve the menu every quarter or sooner, so this is a spot to watch and check in with very regularly. They also have a couple of really exciting collaboration dinners coming up that anyone should be happy to have a seat at as well. I'm so happy to see Chef Travis carrying on the impeccable reputation of this restaurant, but putting his own twist on it as he goes. He's one of the most talented chefs in our community and it is fantastic. Seeing him have a permanent home where people can come visit and taste his talents. ”

“ It had been a few years since I visited Centro and so glad I had it again. They accept reservations so I would go that route first but they can take walk ins too. It's a small, cozy, and inviting space. It's an open kitchen so you can see your delicious food being prepared. Love all the drink options--- I ordered the Hibisly. Not only was the presentation nice but mostly importantly the drink was really good. Now on to the good stuff-- the food! The fried Brussel sprouts are hands down my favorite. I love flavors all come together perfectly and I don't think I could ever visit again and not order these! The Brie and Pear flatbread is really good. Some places put the tiniest amount of Brie-- not this place. Overall I would highly recommend this place for drinks and tapas. Great atmosphere and amazing food! ”

“ GLUTEN-FREE FRIED CHICKEN!! I don't know any other places in Reno with GF fried chicken! I've never actually written a review for Centro because I was always underwhelmed by the food and the gluten-free options were minimal. This was despite going there occasionally because the space is so cozy and cute and the location convenient. However, I learned that there is a new owner/Chef and the menu has evolved for the better! While keeping some of the things that were always there. There are so many gluten-free choices now because the fryer is 100% GF and they are using cornstarch and GF flour! There is some hidden soy in a few things but the Chef is super knowledgeable. Everything we had was amazing and I can't wait to go back to try everything. I'm excited about all these things that are GF (there are others too): Fried Chicken, Fried Artichokes, Brussel sprouts, the Pan fried Corvina with rice cakes and bokchoy, grilled octopus, beet salad, roasted harissa carrots, hamachi, lemon tart, and almond cake. Sounds like the menu changes frequently so these exact things might not be there and the menu isn't marked Gluten Free because of the changes. But I'm guessing it will all be as good! ”

“ We're visiting from Hawaii and wanted to eat at a trendy fusion spot and Centro was recommended by a local. This place is wonderful! The flavors were fresh and bright -- a welcomed departure from the heavy comfort food in the area. The staff here were super nice and efficient. They explained the menu well and gave recommendations based on our cravings. I'm a sucker for a good beet salad and this was one was perfect. I'd recommend the lemon piccata meatball. The citric acid from the sauce balanced the rich polenta really well. If you want a fun place for drinks and fusion tapas, this is a must try! ”

“ This is THE restaraunt to plan your night around. The restaraunt itself had beautiful local art on the walls, a partially open kitchen and a large bar. Every table was full of conversation and what looked like pleased guests, with even more people coming through the door to confirm their reservation. My husband and I visited Centro for our anniversary, knowing we were in for a tasty meal. Unexpectedly, Chef Travis superseded our expectations by giving us a food experience we cannot find anywhere else, nor will we forget. This is what we ordered: Apps * Lobster Ravioli- Creamy Pesto was light, with Sun Dried Tom and Balsamic Red. Not too large, with the "right" amount of cheese and lobster within each. * Brie and Pear Flatbread- We added prosciutto to the flatbread, and oh man was it good. Flatbread was fluffy and a great size (not too big). * Al's Filthy Fries- Mable Potatoes, Bratwurst, Bacon, Pickled Jalapeño, Cheese sauce... DELICIOUS. * Sweet Chili Sauce Sticky Ribs- So very flavorful. The rib itself was slightly crunchy on the outside and oh so tender on the inside, garnished with pickled carrots and mint chimichurri. Definitely one of my favorite dishes of the night. * Fried Brussel Sprouts- Always a win, especially when there is pancetta and nuts involved. Entrees * Pan Seared Corvina- This was my favorite dish. Served with a crispy rice cake, grilled bok choy and a green curry broth, this dish was by far the best meal I have had in far too long. My husband, who doesn't particularly enjoy curry of any kind, loved this dish as much as I did and now wants to try curry again haha. * Medium Rare NY Strip- My husband's favorite dish. The Kabocha squash puree, roasted pine nuts and Date Demi glaze gave the dish a perfect combination of savory and sweetness. Dessert * Japanese Cherry Blossom Tea Panna Cotta * Limoncello Almond Cake * Chinese Five Spice Chocolate Cake ”

“ Third or fourth visit to this establishment in the last 2+ years. I was here for a dinner meeting with a sales rep and walked in with out reservations on a Monday evening around 6. We were offered table seating or bar seating and opted for the table. I recognized the server from previous visits which is usually a good sign that the management is taking care of its people and that the server isn't afraid to work. I think this place has some of, if not the best cocktails in Reno. I ordered the toasted pecan manhattan for starters and later refreshed with a Sake blossom. This drink has a unique blend of sake and gin in sour mix that offsets the sweetness of the sake. Tasty to say the least. We ordered the grilled octopus which is one of my favorite dishes but it was a disappointment. 3 maybe 4 small bites of octopus that was a bit salty and overcooked amongst a bunch of bite sized chopped fingerling potatoes. Probably more appropriate to call this dish Potato & Octopus as the potatoes were the prevalent ingredient. The salmon and sticky ribs were incredible and definitely did not disappoint. The cold roasted beet salad is flavorful and presented like it came out of a 5 star restaurant. The Brussels are perfectly roasted and not overly seasoned. Delicious. Overall, a good experience. I think (as written in previous reviews) that the portion sizes are small for the prices they get. That's just my personal opinion. This is an expensive restaurant and probably I won't go here when I'm footing the bill but when a rep asks where to go, Centro is on the top five of the list. ”
